Tomorrow.io is hiring: Hardware Development Lead in Golden

Tomorrow.io, Golden, CO, United States, 80401

Tomorrow.io's Space & Sensors team is responsible for the development of unique RF-based sensing systems – primarily radars – from architecture through implementation. The team is also responsible for the development of corresponding spacecraft and constellations in support of Tomorrow.io's satellite constellation, which will collect data to be integrated seamlessly into our existing forecasting and modeling systems, revolutionizing global weather intelligence.

We are looking for a Hardware Development Lead to join a cutting-edge, multidisciplinary team to help us execute complex development programs. Applications include, but are not limited to, weather and climate remote sensing, navigation and situational awareness, as well as enabling the most capable weather intelligence platform in the world. As a Hardware Development Lead at Tomorrow.io, you will play a critical role in both leading and contributing to cutting-edge hardware development through all phases of the development cycle: requirements gathering and definition, design, development, prototyping, implementation, verification, testing, integration, calibration, and documentation.

What you'll do:

  • Architect, design, develop, enable manufacturing, and test the next generation sensor product lines – primarily software-defined radar systems – in support of multiple Space & Sensors division programs, including the ARENA and associated GSE.
  • Be responsible for hardware through all phases of the development cycle: systems engineering, requirements gathering and definition, design (BOM definition, schematics, layout), manufacturing, implementation testing, integration, calibration, documentation, and ownership through final release and delivery.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team, both internally and externally, to define and implement next generation hardware implementations of the ARENA Software Defined Radar (SDR), including multi giga-sample ADCs & DACs, to enable Space-, airborne-, and ground-based sensing systems.
  • Contribute to the company's engineering culture by implementing best engineering practices and helping to improve on existing processes and procedures.
  • Design, document, implement, simulate, and test new hardware designs including planning and estimation of the required tasks.
  • Develop and document requirements and specifications of digital hardware and systems.
  • Actively engage with systems engineers, scientists, and program managers to translate operational capabilities to system requirements and executable tasks.
  • Actively engage with both internal and external customers and be a technical representative of the company.

What you bring:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with multiple roles open at varying levels of seniority and experience. 15+ years minimum relevant experience.
  • Experience with large FPGAs (Xilinx Ultrascale, Xilinx Ultrascale+, et cetera) and high-speed Multi-Gbps transceivers (JESD204, PCIE, 10GigE, et cetera) including signal integrity analysis and implementation of the copper transmission paths.
  • Experience working with Altium circuit design and layout tool packages (or similar complex development tools) and industry standard simulation tool packages.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment with changing priorities. Demonstrated experience mixing serial hardware development with firmware and software development that utilizes Agile methodology. Familiarity with Atlassian tools is a plus.
  • Bias to action and have a "get things done" mindset. IDs work that needs to be done, but also completes it.
  • Experience with board bring-up, debugging, and validation experience, including development of Test Procedures.

If your experience is close but doesn't fulfill all requirements, please apply. Tomorrow.io is on a mission to build a special company. To achieve our goal, we are focused on hiring people with different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.

This position requires access to technology that is controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations. Accordingly, this position is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and protected individuals unless and until any required licenses are obtained.
