Summary of Job Content:

Senior Technical Sales Representative to manage and drive sales of flexible graphite products within an assigned regional territory. This role involves direct interactions with customers and end-users, providing expert consultation and promoting the technical advantages of flexible graphite solutions.

Skills:
  • Proven ability to collaborate with external sales organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Experience in time and territory management.
  • Proficiency in software such as SAP, CRM systems, and MS Office.
  • Strong interest in technical products within the sealing industry.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (both auto and air travel).
  • Travel expenses range from $20,000 to $25,000 annually.


Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial).
  • 3-5 years of technical sales experience; experience with sealing products is a plus.


Work Environment:
  • Hybrid role: Office-based with occasional visits to the plant.
  • Exposure to various work environments, with occasional risks such as fumes, airborne particles, outdoor conditions, electrical hazards, heat, or chemicals.

  • Regularly required to sit, speak, hear, and use hands for tasks like typing or handling materials; occasional lifting or moving up to 20 pounds.

Job Duties and Responsabilities

Accounts Management and Business Development Responsibilities
  • Oversee and drive sales within a multi-state territory in the US (CA, NV, UT, AZ, CO, NM, KS, OK, TX, MO, AR, LA, MS, AK, HI) and in Canada (YT, NT, BC, AB), managing relationships with customers and end-users.
  • Develop and implement pricing, marketing, and sales strategies aligned with Business Line EG.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Director to create tailored sales strategies for customers and end-users within the assigned region.
  • Monitor and analyze Gross Margin and Contribution Margin by product and customer to ensure alignment with targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with end users within the territory, fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Utilize CRM systems to track sales, opportunities, and provide regular reporting.
  • Contribute to the bottom-up planning process for annual sales and department budgets on a quarterly and yearly basis.


Technical Responsibilities
  • Translate customer requirements into technical specifications, ensuring alignment with SGL's manufacturing capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary technical expert for sealing and gasket applications, coordinating with the Valencia plant to communicate market demands.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, offering guidance on specifications and collaborating with industry associations and standardization bodies.
  • Manage multiple product families, including rolls, sheets, reinforced sheets, inhibited materials, powder products, gasket products, tapes, and yarn.


People Management & Communication
  • Foster open communication and collaboration with operations and quality teams at the Valencia plant, ensuring alignment across functions.


Special Accountabilities or Tasks
  • Track and report regional sales and marketing performance, including market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback.
  • Identify and explore new product opportunities to expand the portfolio.
  • Lead price and contract negotiations with commercial customers to drive business growth.
