We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.What You’ll Do:In the Staff Design Engineer role you will be responsible for detailed design of Archer’s Electric Engine, with a focus on the integration of the motor, gearbox, inverter, and thermo-lubrication systems . As the lead, you will be responsible for managing the tasks of other design engineers to ensure the design is completed and meets stated requirements. Along with direct design ownership of components within the engine you will also provide guidance and mentorship for other engineers. Additional responsibilities include:Developing innovative solutions to design problemsChampioning and managing large projects that affect long-term goals and objectives.Designing mechanical components like gears, shafts, pumps, structural housings, fasteners, structural supports, oil transfer devices, etc.Creating component drawings and working with suppliers to manufacture your designs.Leading design reviewsLeading engineering prototype builds and design validation testing. Working cross functionally with other teams to manage system FEA, thermal, CFD modeling that ensure the design meets requirementsWorking with project management to create program plans and manage schedulesWhat You Need:BS Degree in mechanical engineering, physics, or similarMinimum of 10 years of Machine Design Engineering  experienceExperience in EV powertrain spaceExperience in design of gear and bearing systemsStrong CAD and drafting skills including GD&TExperience with product life management systems, including BOMs and engineering change orders.Experience performing FEA on components and small assembliesBasic Matlab or Python skillsHands on experience with hardware builds and teardownsAbility to organize and lead cross-functional effortsAbility to travel domesticallyStrong presentation skillsBonus Qualifications:Aerospace and/or automotive development experienceThermal modeling or CFD experiencePlease note that this job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position and does not include an exhaustive list of responsibilities and qualificationsAt Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $163,200 - $204,000.
