The Energy Storage – Head of Project Development (WECC) – Chicago will lead a portfolio of 15 utility-scale Energy Storage projects across the upper WECC region. Leading a diverse team of Developers and SMEs to take the portfolio through to COD.

My client is a global leading Private Equity firm focused entirely on Renewable Energy. They’ve operated in N. America for over a decade, have GWs of Assets in Operation, GWs of projects under Construction, and GWs of projects in their Development Pipeline – Onshore/Offshore Wind, Solar, Solar+, Hydrogen, Pump Storage, Transmission, Long Duration Storage, etc.

Description

The Energy Storage – Head of Project Development (WECC) – Chicago will:

  • Lead and manage interdisciplinary teams including land negotiations, real estate, engineering, permitting, legal, and interconnection through construction commencement – through third-party Development shops & Development Service agreements.
  • Lead project strategy throughout the entire development process to achieve project & corporate goals.
  • Develop and manage project development schedules and budgets.
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage contract obligations in key project documents.
  • Facilitate project discretionary permitting including permit strategy, tracking permit efforts, working with local AHJs, and presenting at permit hearings as needed.
  • Coordinate closely with the cross-functional teams across the company.

Profile

The right candidate will have:

  • At least 8 years of project development experience in renewable energy – preferably with BESS, but must have utility-scale Solar project development experience as a minimum.
  • Ideally taking projects from early-mid stage development through to COD.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in renewable energy, finance, engineering, project/construction management, or equivalent.
  • Experienced people leader and manager of cross-functional project team subject matter authorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of renewable energy project development, utilities, interconnection, permitting, and contracting.
  • Extensive knowledge of renewable energy and energy storage technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, including public speaking and/or platform skills for executive management presentations.

Job Offer
