Currently, Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Senior Chemical Engineer to work in our Hartland, WI office. The hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Senior Chemical Engineer will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered an Exempt employee.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • Five (5) or more years of experience


Job Description:
  • Confirm and finalize design of Evaporative and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems using proprietary design software comprised of Horizontal Spray Film or Vertical Falling Film Evaporator (VFFE) and/or Forced Circulation Heat Exchanger Crystallizer (FCHX) technologies.
  • Finalize PFD and PID for the project.
  • Provide process input and process design to vessel designers for fabricated equipment such as evaporators, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
  • Perform heat and material balance, hydraulic and relief protection calculations.
  • Review, analyze and implement client specifications into the developed designs.
  • Provide direction to piping designers, structural engineers, instrument and electrical engineers.
  • Perform engineering calculations and sizing of process components such as pumps, control valves, vapor compressors and piping systems.
  • Develop specifications for buy-out equipment based on metallic and non-metallic structure properties of construction materials as well as computer data processing and simulation.
  • Participate and/or lead meetings with the clients and project team to establish project objectives and coordinate and/or resolve design problems.
  • Participate in process design reviews, risk assessments, equipment performance test, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), HAZOPs and vendor bid evaluations.
  • Develop operating and control philosophy. Co-develop installation, commissioning and maintenance manuals.
  • Train Operators, Field Engineers to use new equipment safely and properly.
  • Provide technical guidance and advise field engineers during commissioning and start-up of systems.
  • Assist site during commissioning and performance testing remotely or by being at site.
  • Write performance and validation reports for the systems after start up.
  • Manage projects and coordinate with other departments and clients
  • Participate in design improvements including pilot testing, team meetings


Skill Requirements:
  • Knowledge, through coursework or experience, of thermal processes (e.g. evaporators, heat exchangers, etc.):
  • Chemical engineering operations (including fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics and energy balances);
  • Dynamic behavior and automatic control of industrial processes;
  • Metallic and non-metallic structure properties of construction material for chemical engineering processes;
  • Computer data processing and simulation;
  • Pilot-scale apparatus operation (including heat exchange and distillation)
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks or proposals in a quick paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and maintain positive attitude and good organizational skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn and grow in responsibility on the job
