We Require
High school diploma or GED
Five years of work experience operating trucks and heavy equipment
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Tanker endorsement issued by the state of Arizona
We Also Value
Experience as an American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Flagger Instructor or Traffic Control Supervisor
Job Contributions
Train others in both a classroom setting and field environment on policies as well as safe, effective, and efficient operations of various equipment and trucks
Operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment/vehicles, including motor grader, articulated front-end loader, backhoe, water truck, dump truck, belly dump truck, and other equipment
Plan, coordinate, and schedule training for all assigned equipment and vehicles
Pre-check, train, clean, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment; identify and report mechanical problems that require extensive repair
Enter training information and data into Learning Management and Asset Management software
Report safety hazards and traffic problems to Roadway leadership
Perform tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies
Complete required daily logs and prepare reports; attend safety meetings
Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
Work in both office and field settings, where the employee may encounter loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electrical hazards, moving machinery, and varying weather conditions. Exposure to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation is possible. The position requires the ability to work in all weather, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain. Manual dexterity is essential for operating heavy machinery such as graders, loaders, compactors, other road maintenance equipment, and standard office tools. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing, bending, and lifting/carrying/pushing up to 80 pounds, with or without the assistance of a device. Applicants must also be able to speak and train large groups, handle a high workload, and work efficiently under pressure with frequent interruptions

Protective Equipment Required
Hard hat, safety goggles/glasses, hearing protection, high-visibility vest, boots, gloves, etc.
