Role Overview :
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Manufacturing Controller to join our team at our Palmer, MA operations. In this critical role, you will drive and optimize inventory management, costing, and absorption processes, providing actionable insights and ensuring financial accuracy across operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and a results-oriented leader committed to continuous improvement and financial performance.
Work Environment : Hybrid
This role is based on-site at our Palmer, MA manufacturing plant on a hybrid basis - the ideal candidate will work on-site 3 days per week where you'll be in the heart of our operations, side-by-side with the production team, getting hands-on with the numbers, materials, and processes that drive our success.

Role Overview :
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Manufacturing Controller to join our team at our Palmer, MA operations. In this critical role, you will drive and optimize inventory management, costing, and absorption processes, providing actionable insights and ensuring financial accuracy across operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and a results-oriented leader committed to continuous improvement and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities :
- Lead efforts to accurately value and manage inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
- Oversee cycle counts and physical inventory processes, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Analyze and report inventory variances, developing strategies to minimize waste and excess.
- Drive standard costing processes, including material, labor, and overhead costs, and regularly review and update cost standards.
- Analyze cost drivers and trends, providing insights to support pricing, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to improve cost accuracy and accountability.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of absorption variances, evaluating impacts on gross margin and plant profitability.
- Provide regular updates on absorption rates and work closely with production management to optimize resource utilization and overhead allocation.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports specific to the manufacturing plant, analyzing performance and supporting the broader financial strategy.
- Identify, recommend, and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance financial controls, data accuracy, and efficiency within manufacturing finance.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing finance, with a focus on inventory management, costing, and absorption.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing finance processes
- Proven track record in financial analysis and driving cost control initiatives.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to dive into details while maintaining a focus on strategic priorities.
- Comfortable working on the shop floor and engaging with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in both detailed data analysis and preparing tactical proposals/presentations.
- Capable of enforcing rules and driving alignment through influence and cross-functional management, even without direct hierarchical authority.
- Skilled in Power BI and Excel.
