POSITION TITLE: Director of Development

SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week

DURATION: Permanent

SALARY: $100k-$115k/year

Is This Your Dream Job? The Director of Development

will report to the Executive Director and will be a vital member of a collaborate team based in Washington, D.C. The Director of Development will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy. Must be capable of both in-person and remote work. Some travel is required (20%). This position is permanent, with an anticipated salary of $100-115k.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• 7+ years of fundraising and development experience required

• 3+ years of experience leading a development team required

• Bachelor's Degree required

• Proven experience running multiple fundraising campaigns required

• Ability to travel (20%)

• DonorPerfect or Salesforce experience preferred

How You Will Spend Your Day:

Fundraising Planning, Budgeting, Management: Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to meet annual and long-term fundraising goals for the organization, collaborating with senior leadership to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities. Generate philanthropic revenue to the organization via individual giving, foundation grants, US government support, corporate giving, marketing efforts, and events. Manage the Development Associate. Individual, Foundation, and Corporate Gifts:

Oversee gift processing and acknowledgement (including tax receipts) for all gifts to the Foundation. Assist as needed in the preparation of grant and contract proposal submissions, budgets and reports, and writing individualized proposals. Major Gifts & Planned Giving:

Serve as the point person for major gifts and planned giving. Maintain a personal portfolio of at least 50 major donors and conduct solicitation calls and visits. Help create solicitation strategies for top donors that encourage increased giving. Oversee the Foundation's planned giving program. Donor Prospects:

Plan and implement strategies and tools to recruit new, retain existing, and reactivate lapsed donors. Identify, evaluate, and pursue donor trips and events with fundraising implications. Marketing/Communications

Work with the communications team to ensure strong marketing, communications to support fundraising needs. Guide optimized use of our social media channels and our website to drive significant growth in interest and engagement. Oversee creation of communication pieces for donor engagement, including e-newsletter, spring update, and the annual report. Events:

Collaborate with Events team and other stakeholders to plan and execute special events to generate revenue or provide donor stewardship. Board Development Committee:

Collaborate with the Executive Director to engage the board and advisory council in fundraising. Ensure that there is a plan and goals with board members, motivate and track board progress, accompany board members on visits as needed, and provide fundraising training to board and advisory council members. Capital Campaign:

Plan and implement all aspects of any major capital campaigns including active involvement in campaign solicitation.
