BENEFITS SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY:

The position of Human Resource Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration and coordination of human resources benefit programs, HRIS data and workflow, and reporting and analysis. Additional responsibilities may include: project and/or overall management of Benefits programs and initiatives. In this role, working knowledge of compliance with the regulations impacting benefit administration is essential. This position supports the overall mission of the Human Resources Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must satisfactorily perform each of the essential functions, duties and responsibilities listed below. Lead the daily administration of the company's health and welfare benefits, wellness program and leave administration. Oversee Workday benefits functionality, including system configuration, employee enrollments/changes, premium calculations and vendor integrations. Prepare and submit monthly provider premium billings; health care enrollment transmittals including COBRA information and census reports through reconciliation of Workday. Works directly with third party vendors to process welfare benefit claims. Assures eligibility, reviews applications, monitors claim status, notifies appropriate parties. Assure data integrity of HRIS employee records; maintains and updates system controls as necessary (includes adjusting premium rates and annual limits); creates and runs integrity reports; reviews all benefit changes requested through Workday. Prepares and maintains timely reports to provide cost analysis and trend information. Administers open enrollment of benefit plans. Plans, prepares and distributes communication in a timely manner to employees. Conducts meetings with employees, both virtually and on-site. Administers the annual Wellness Program to ensure compliance with HIPAA and DOL regulations. Updates employee records in HRIS. Interpretation and compliance with regulations including ERISA, IRS Section 401(k), IRS Section 125, FMLA, and USERRA and maintains employee benefit files. Act as direct contact (verbal and/or written communication) for employees to address benefit issues with third-party vendors. Researches and responds to employee and beneficiary questions and requests for information. Administers STD, FMLA and COBRA with third party vendors and provides employee communications and overall leave management. Prepares and distributes employee new hire benefit enrollment packages. Maintains employee elections and beneficiary information in the HRIS system as well as third party vendor sites. Coordinates workflow to assure completion and accuracy of all employee paperwork follows Corporate procedures and policies. Education:

Must have acquired, as a minimum, the following formal education.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience. Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of benefits experience (exclusively or in a generalist capacity). Minimum of 1-3 years of Workday experience, focus in Benefits & Absence Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Must demonstrate competency and proficiency in the following skills and/or abilities.

Current knowledge of and ability to apply benefit law. Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgement. Proven excellent reporting, written communications and presentations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with executives, managers, employees and vendors. Latest computer technology and software packages (Workday, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
