Sr. Accountant/Project Controller

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant/Project Controller to join our finance team in support of our federal government contracting business. This mid-level role will focus on maintaining accurate project-level financials, estimates to complete (ETCs), invoicing through government portals, and other key accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in government contracting financial practices, including FAR, CAS, and the use of Unanet, as well as a thorough understanding of A/P, A/R, and G/L processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor project-level financials, ensuring accuracy in revenue recognition, job costing, and ETCs.
- Process and track invoices through government portals such as Symphony, IPP, and WAWF, ensuring timely submission and payment.
- Record and reconcile general ledger (G/L) entries in compliance with US GAAP.

- Manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R), ensuring proper documentation and timely processing.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Controller on month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closings and reporting activities.
- Prepare and analyze project-specific indirect rate applications and ensure proper allocation of costs.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of financial systems and workflows to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR), cost accounting standards (CAS), and internal financial policies.
- Support external audit requests by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Assist in proposal development by providing accurate financial data for cost proposals and pricing strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and project financial management, preferably in a government contracting environment.
- Expertise with Unanet Financials and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Thorough understanding of FAR, CAS, and government compliance requirements.
- Proven experience with government invoicing platforms such as Symphony and IPP.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant certification.
- Experience working with DCAA audits and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with indirect rate development and cost-plus contracts.
- Experience supporting cost proposals and pricing strategies for government contracts.
