Job Overview:

We are looking for a bilingual (Spanish/English) Employment Specialist who is passionate about helping individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment overcome challenges and achieve their employment goals. The Employment Specialist will provide tailored support in both languages, assisting clients with job readiness training, job placement, and ongoing support in the workplace. An ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a deep commitment to inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Assessment and Goal Setting:
  • Conduct assessments to understand the skill sets, preferences, and barriers of clients, ensuring to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English.
  • Collaborate with clients to create personalized employment plans that leverage their strengths and interests.
Job Readiness Training:
  • Provide training in job search techniques, resume writing, interviewing skills, and workplace etiquette in both languages.
  • Facilitate mock interviews and role-play sessions to prepare clients for real-world job interviews.
Job Search Assistance:
  • Assist clients in identifying their employment opportunities using various job search tools and networks.
  • Guide clients in undertaking effective job search strategies and utilizing community resources in both languages.
Employment Placement:
  • Support the job application process, including writing resumes and cover letters, scheduling interviews, and preparing for interviews in Spanish and English.
  • Act as an advocate for clients in discussions with potential employers, helping to negotiate suitable roles and accommodations.
On-the-Job Support:
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to clients once they are employed, ensuring effective communication and understanding is facilitated.
  • Help clients adjust to their job environment and foster positive interactions with coworkers and supervisors.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Track client progress, documenting employment outcomes and skill development in both languages.
  • Generate reports on the efficacy of employment strategies and client progress reports for stakeholders.
Community Outreach and Collaboration:
  • Develop relationships with community employers and organizations that can lead to job placements.
  • Participate in community job fairs and outreach events to expand program visibility and enhance client recruitment.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
  • Stay updated on trends and practices in supported employment, rehabilitation, and disability rights.
  • Take part in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or a related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required to effectively communicate with clients and employers.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of local labor market trends and job search strategies.
  • Familiarity with disability rights laws and vocational rehabilitation services is a plus.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to client empowerment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
