We are currently seeking a highly organized Staff Accountant that will manage all activities as they relate to Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, coding and adherence to MMWEC’s policies and procedures. This individual is responsible for adhering to industry standards as applicable.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Process all MMWEC and Cooperative invoices for payment

· Ensure proper general ledger coding to accounts, bill codes, work orders and reference codes, making changes and corrections as needed

· Ensure all documentation in the invoice package supports timely and accurate payments to vendors

· Make decisions on any discrepancies when verifying purchase order, receiver and billing and work to resolve such issues, involving appropriate internal and/or external departments, as needed. Determines proprieties of internal approvals, consistent with authorization levels and company policies

· Schedule payments to take advantage of discounts and to ensure on-time payment of invoices and support controlled cash disbursements

· Generate all wires and manual checks, process biweekly check runs, and verify invoices to be paid

· Prepare all monthly journal entries related to accounts payable, including expense or coding corrections, and prepare monthly accounts payable reconciliations and bank reconciliations, as assigned.

· Manage compliance with policies and maintain monthly schedules for key accounts, including receivables, accruals and prepaids.

· Perform inventory reconciliations and prepare monthly inventory closing entries and reconciliations.

· Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests for accounts payable

· Participate in various projects and support other department needs, as assigned

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience

· 1 to 3 years’ experience in performance of general accounting duties including general journal entries, account reconciliations and month-end closing activities (accounts payable preferred) and computer software (JD Edwards preferred)

· Ability to communicate with all levels of management, as well as outside contacts to provide data and account information

· Ability to work with confidential material
