Operating as a regional airline in the United States, Air Wisconsin Airlines performs flying services for American Airlines as American Eagle throughout the Midwest and East Coast, operating CRJ-200 regional jets. Our exceptional team is dedicated to making our travelers' experiences safe and pleasant.

With general direction from the Director of Accounting and Controller, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining internal control, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The Senior Staff Accountant participates in and helps implement the monthly financial close, including account analysis, analytics, account reconciliations, and monthly variance analysis that also ensures the timely and accurate filing of quarterly and annual reporting to outside agencies.

Job Functions:

  • Promotes and fosters a safe and secure operating environment.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining Company's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Prepares and consolidates financial statements in a timely manner by applying generally accepted accounting principles and techniques to systematically record and present data.
  • Prepares and/or reviews journal entries and account analysis for general ledger account accuracy.
  • Prepares analysis and explanations of variances on a monthly or quarterly basis as needed and participates in the review of such analysis.
  • Assists, as needed, in the preparation of the annual 10K, quarterly 10Q reports, and annual audit.
  • Assists in the research of the accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Applies accounting principles and techniques to systematically record and present data.
  • Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting, general ledger, and fixed asset structures.
  • Ensures an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.
  • Collaborates with accounting, tax, and finance personnel to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Compiles DOT financial statements.
  • Maintains costs within accounting budget and assists with identifying cost savings in other departments.
  • Participates in testing of applicable software cyclicals and upgrades.
  • Assists with planning and implementation of changes in accounting systems.
  • Adapts to changes in guidelines and applies exceptions when authorized.
  • Supports with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Attendance is considered an essential responsibility.

Education & Experience:

Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting
    • Minimum of 4 years accounting experience
    • General knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems
    • Experience with financial analysis
    • Proficient in use of software - Infinium, Showcase, PMI, Excel and Word


Preferred:

    • Experience with internal controls and annual audits
    • No license required, but CPA or progression toward CPA certification
