Senior Buyer
Reports To: Purchasing Manager
Job Purpose
A Senior Buyer is a strategic purchasing role that aligns vendors with company strategy. A Senior Buyer has the responsibility to source quality vendors, negotiate pricing, manage MRP master data, train other buyers, and purchase items consistent with the procurement strategy of the business. They work cross functionally to ensure smooth production flow and growth with strategic vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities
Working Conditions
There is some flexibility to work for occasional work from home, but the primary work location will be 12011 Mosteller Rd, Cincinnati OH 45241. Job includes flexible 9-80 schedule which can extend hours during the week to allow for every other Friday off work. This position may require periodic travel to visit vendors. Work environment is in an office attached to the factory.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate vendor performance and develop new supply sources when needed.
- Rationalize vendor selection and consolidate vendors where possible to achieve greater value.
- Effectively balance inventory, on-time delivery, quality, and cost in all purchasing decisions.
- Participate in cross-functional supply review. Manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to effectively deliver supply materials at the right time, right quantity, and price.
- Work closely with manufacturing to coordinate supplier issues and assure projects remain on schedule.
- Provide initial point of contact for supplier management including Request for Quote (RFQs) and Price Negotiations as designated by the department manager.
- Support Supplier Performance Measurement process (i.e., quality, on-time delivery, response to variable demand, etc.).
- Manage data required in MRP system including ERP vendor maintenance, price, lead-time, purchase orders and delivery dates.
- Trains other buyers withing the purchasing team and promotes a team atmosphere to help improve the business.
- Contributes to the overarching purchasing strategy for the company and creates individual strategies for key vendors that align to business needs.
- Continuously looks for ways to improve the purchasing process and drive efficiency in the business.
- Follows our ISO standards, work instructions, and promotes a safe working environment for all.
- Follows all compliance rules and laws to ensure company compliance with all regulations.
- Ability to communicate, lead and influence effectively across various levels of the organization.
- Able to utilize tactical problem-solving skills balancing order fulfillment priorities pertaining to open orders versus inventory, freight costs versus service levels, and quickly determine the optimum solution that meets on-time delivery to customers.
- Adept at performing detailed and thorough investigations and able to communicate implications of analysis and corrective action(s).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal and team skills.
- Strong organization, project management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience mitigating risks of supply interruption in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze large sets of data and make sound business decisions.
- Ability to train others and develop other buyers in the department.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience with an MRP and ERP systems is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel is required.
- Bachelor's degree in business, technical degree or equivalent experience is required.
- 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- CPM or CPSM certifications are a plus.
