Junior Product Development Engineer

Description
Responsibilites:- Design and develop, through trials, stable manufacturing processes to create medical device products that meet customer and internal quality requirements
- Learn process design and equipment capability fundamentals through interaction with Sr. Engineers and time spent on the manufacturing floor
- Develop strong relationships with floor personnel (operators, inspectors, and Quality technicians)
- Design and develop processes that are transferrable and scale-able to existing production equipment
- Create a Trial plan and execute with oversite of Sr. Engineer
- Communication with equipment manufacturers for design and troubleshooting work
- Attend and participate in customer project-focused meetings
- Manually produce prototypes to demonstrate design concepts
- Source and select materials compatible with product design, regulatory requirements, and process capabilities
- Development of optical measurement recipes, for part measurements
- Assist in quoting processes
- Effectively communicate the status of current projects
- Support operations team in quality investigations
- Participate in the ongoing education of the Med Device Market and current manufacturing equipment
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Ability to understand relationships between trial results and process inputs (material or otherwise)
- Technical drawing interpretation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of basic physics concepts
- Problem Solving and decision making
- Self-motivated to work independently or in a group
- Openness to new ideas and constructive guidance
- Flexibility in working hours during manufacturing trials
- Basic experience in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
- Completion of Sr. Design project
- Experience working as part of a project team
* Exposure to converting web based products
* Skilled in CAD software
* Minitab experience
- Internship or coop experience
Position Demands
Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:
- Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot.
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
- May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards.
Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
- Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
- Safety Glasses
- Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks
- Hearing Protection, when required
- Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.
- Respirator, when required,
While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands:
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Be able to push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds.
- Be able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
- Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
