Staff Accountant

Sparks Group has partnered with a renowned government transportation contractor to seek a highly skilled and results-oriented Staff Accountant. This role involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including reviewing, reconciling, and processing administrative Accounting support for the agency's financial activity. The ideal Accountant will be responsible for processing and analyzing financial processes for operating accountants, financial grants and operations activity for the organization. Responsibilities:

• Support monthly closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist with the preparation for and coordination of annual audits.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of general ledger accounts.
• Record and maintain capital assets in the financial software.
• Prepare and issue invoices/bills to external grant funders.
• Monitor capital expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements.
• Assist departments with financial assessments of grant projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly fund accounting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels.
• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with financial software systems (e.g., PeopleSoft) and reporting tools (e.g., Query, NVision, Crystal Reports) is highly preferred.
