Job Summary The Principal (supervisor) Technical Accounting Analyst will lead accounting research and technical analysis under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role also supports the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and external reporting, including Form 10-Q and 10-K filings.

Key Accountabilities

  • Interpret U.S. GAAP standards and guidance to determine and document accounting treatments for new, complex, or unusual transactions or agreements.
  • Review material revenue contracts under ASC 606 and lease contracts under ASC 842.
  • Assist the Technical Accounting and External Reporting Manager by coordinating internal and external audit requests, and supporting quarterly and annual financial statement preparation.
  • Coordinate with auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with financial and operational reporting requirements (e.g., FERC, MPSC).
  • Research current and emerging accounting issues, implementing updated policies and procedures as needed.
  • Identify and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a positive working environment through training and development.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in accounting and/or auditing.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and SEC guidance.
  • Experience in external SEC reporting for a publicly traded company.
  • Ability to drive change and achieve project goals.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and Workiva.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Accountancy.
  • Experience in public accounting.
