Job Description

The position will report to the Technical Manager and provide technical leadership to their assigned unit. This position is responsible for all technical aspects of assigned Powders production lines and associated equipment, including continual improvement in all key performance indicators. This position will work closely with the Shift Supervisors and the Maintenance/Engineering department.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain and monitor daily production and quality metrics as well as operation logbooks to ensure optimal unit operation and accurate reporting.
  2. Continually optimize production operations to maximize the Efficiency and On-Stream-Time of the manufacturing equipment.
  3. Lead safety training, conduct behavior-based safety audits, and provide a strong safety presence in the unit.
  4. Develop and review standard operating procedures to meet ISO9001 and PSM requirements.
  5. Minimize/eliminate out of specification production by ensuring equipment is maintained in the required condition.
  6. Conduct thorough investigations of non-conforming products and customer complaints to identify root causes and effective corrective/preventive actions to continuously reduce off-spec production and customer complaints.
  7. Investigate and identify causes of waste to minimize the amount of waste generated.
  8. Apply troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques and resources as required to quickly respond to a variety of operational issues.
  9. Collaborate with internal and external customers to minimize production impact.
  10. Identify, communicate, and eliminate production bottlenecks with Engineering/Maintenance to continually maximize production capacities.
  11. Train salaried and hourly staff on technical matters as appropriate.

These experiences are deemed beneficial, but not necessarily all essential:

  • Leadership experience in Chemical Plant Operations
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions.
  • Knowledge of 5S and other Lean tools
  • Knowledge of PSM, environmental, and other regulatory requirements
  • Plant commissioning

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 1-year chemical manufacturing experience (2-5 years preferred)
  • PSM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ISO exposure
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative Operations environment
