They will also be responsible for managing a technical team and working cross-functionally with design, production, and merchandising teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead denim fittings on live models, collaborating with design and production teams to ensure correct fit, proportions, and construction.
- Develop and execute fit comments, clearly communicating pattern corrections and construction changes to overseas factories.
- Analyze patterns and make necessary adjustments, including grading and spec modifications to maintain brand consistency across different fits and washes.
- Troubleshoot technical fit issues, identifying solutions to improve garment construction and reduce production delays.
- Ensure quality control in production, working closely with the production team to maintain high standards in bulk manufacturing.
- Oversee and manage a team of technical designers, guiding them in fit approvals, sample reviews, and workload management.
- Maintain technical specifications, pattern corrections, and grading across multiple accounts.
- Collaborate with vendors and factories to ensure proper execution of fits, patterns, and wash development.
- Balance multiple private-label projects, managing overlapping timelines and ensuring each account receives the necessary technical support.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in denim technical design, fit execution, and pattern development.
- Expertise in denim construction, grading, and pattern-making with an in-depth understanding of washes, fabric shrinkage, and stretch recovery.
- Strong ability to lead fittings and make real-time adjustments.
- Experience working directly with overseas factories, providing clear and concise fit comments.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Browzwear, or other 3D software (preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of Gerber, Lectra, Optitex, or other pattern-making software.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate design intent into technical execution.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve fit and production issues quickly.
- Ability to multi-task in a private label environment, working across multiple customers and product categories.
