Offering a wide range of services from small components to fully integrated systems, the Fremont facility supports various technology sectors including semiconductor, telecommunications, and medical equipment through extensive capabilities such as sheet metal fabrication, welding, painting, and clean room assembly. Job Purpose We are seeking a knowledgeable and driven individual for the role of Quality Assurance Engineer. In this capacity, you will champion operational excellence and spearhead quality improvement initiatives within advanced machining operations for our high-tech clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise to dive deep into the manufacturing processes, developing permanent solutions to quality challenges both internally and at suppliers. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining our Quality Management System and serve as a primary contact for addressing customer quality concerns. Nature Of Duties Lead teams in corrective actions and make use of quality tools, including 8D, to address quality issues and customer concerns. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop, analyze, and verify process controls based on customer specifications and drawings. Update Quality control plans and checklists accordingly. Design, document, and implement inspection and testing methods and procedures. Enhance plant quality performance and customer satisfaction through process improvement techniques such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Lean manufacturing. Establish and maintain quality standards for the processing of materials into finished products. Support documentation of nonconformance and the Material Review Board (MRB) process, including customer complaint analysis. Engage with customers on critical quality issues as necessary. Conduct and report on internal audits to ensure compliance. Participate in engineering Change Control Boards (CCBs) and aid in the refinement of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs). Provide training and mentoring to team members in quality improvement techniques and the application of various quality tools. Perform other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience Qualifications The successful candidate must be able to fulfill each essential duty effectively. Below are the qualifications required: BS degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in quality engineering or a related area within a manufacturing setting. Proficient in reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work directly with customers. Experience performing and documenting customer-required source inspections. Solid understanding of backplane assembly processes and engineering, including assembly drawing interpretation, first article inspection, and product/process qualification. Substantial engineering and manufacturing experience. Familiarity with AS 9100 first article requirements. Expertise in conducting and documenting Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA). Experience with Agile and Oracle software. Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and Google applications. Strong knowledge of industry quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS 9100, TL 9000, and NADCAP. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Work Environment The characteristics of the work environment are as follows: Exposure to dust, oil, coolant, and machinery noise. Moderate to high noise levels typical in the workspace. Fast-paced work environment requiring adaptability to frequent process changes. Daily interaction with customers, often with little or no prior notice. This position is located in an ITAR facility; applicants must be U.S. Citizens or lawful permanent residents.
