The ideal candidate will bring 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of general ledger accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and subledger management. As a self-starter in a startup environment, the person will need to be comfortable handling a variety of tasks, from cash applications to month-end closing activities. Previous experience within the insurance industry is highly preferred. If you’re familiar with bordereau preparation, that's a bonus!

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including cash application, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations.
• Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain accurate subledgers and assist with journal entries and accruals.
• Prepare and review bordereau reports (or similar documents) as necessary, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with the finance team to support internal controls and audit preparation.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior leadership on business performance.
• Handle any ad-hoc accounting tasks and assist in the development and improvement of financial processes as needed in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and subledger management.
• Insurance experience is highly preferred, ideally in an accounting or finance-related role.
• Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of preparing bordereau or similar reports.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency with accounting software and tools.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to business growth in a startup atmosphere.
