Job Description
BigFoot Staffing is excited to help our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry, who is seeking a skilled and dedicated Human Resource Generalist to join their team as a direct hire. This role plays a critical part in creating a positive employee experience while ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Human Resources (HR) department. The HR Generalist will manage hiring, benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance, all while supporting the organizations culture and values.
Key Responsibilities
Core HR Functions:
- Embody company core values, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment while driving cultural change.
- Partner with managers to recruit, interview, and hire qualified candidates for open positions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee employee onboarding, including background checks and eligibility verifications.
- Provide support for employment-related inquiries, escalating complex matters to the appropriate personnel.
- Execute HR programs such as compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary actions, investigations, performance management, and training.
- Develop and implement HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Lead HR projects, such as compliance reporting and UKG Recruiting initiatives.
Employee Relations & Compliance:
- Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed.
- Support new hire orientation and employee recognition programs to enhance engagement and morale.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, updating policies as necessary.
- Stay updated on HR trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work onsite at the Portland, Oregon, Corporate Headquarters.
- Travel occasionally, up to 25%, as required.
- Perform other duties and contribute to HR initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of multi-state HR generalist experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with acute attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
- 3+ years of experience using UKG Pro and Workforce Management systems.
- SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
- Familiarity with California employment practices and regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and answering phones.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Capability to navigate the organizations facilities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $32-$38 an hour DOE.
