As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer on Tesla's General Assembly, Semi team, you will sustain, optimize, and improve advanced automated manufacturing equipment. This role involves reducing downtime, maximizing efficiency, and enhancing safety and process standards. You'll become a subject matter expert on critical equipment, contributing to Tesla's mission of building a sustainable future.
Responsibilities
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs) that require international travel to validate and launch new production tooling Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to support continuous production and minimize downtime Design and validate jigs, fixtures, tooling, and maintenance schedules to ensure safety and reliability Uses first principals' approach and lead upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance and process capability Develop expertise on assigned equipment, including automation systems, to support training and troubleshooting Run ROI analysis and present engineering justification to Capex Requirements
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience Experience in high-volume manufacturing setting Strong 2D and 3D CAD design skillset Hands-on knowledge of robotics (e.g., Fanuc), vision systems (e.g., Keyence, Cognex), dispense systems, and conveyance systems Familiarity with AGVs, torque tools, dispense, fluid fill systems, and EOL testing is a plus Strong skills in designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling with a focus on safety, DFM, and GD&T Demonstrated experience with 3-phase 480/208 VAC, single-phase 208/120 VAC, and 24 VDC systems Proven problem-solving ability using structured methods like DMAIC, 8D, or 5 Whys, and excellent communication and teamwork skills Compensation and Benefits Benefits
