Hopkins is located 7 miles west of Minneapolis, boasting natural surroundings in a suburban environment that also provides quick access to major travel ways and local restaurants that give our community a distinct character. Responsibilities: RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations of Federal, State and local municipalities with respect to air, water and waste. Assist in establishing company-wide environmental compliance and goals and objectives for food processing facilities and farm operations. Identify and participate in sustainability and conservation efforts to reduce costs and environmental impact of MFI operations. Develop, implement, maintain and audit environmental programs providing guidance and assistance to plant/farm management. Determine appropriate actions to resolve deficiencies, and work directly with onsite personnel. Technically proficient at gathering environmental data/samples to maintain regulatory compliance. Responsible for managing regulatory reporting and environmental recordkeeping requirements such as, but not limited to wastewater treatment (pre-treatment & NPDES), SARA (Tier II & TRI) Air Permitting, customer surveys on sustainability, etc. for assigned MFI facilities. Perform routine environmental inspections of MFI locations and support third party audits. Develop and implement training programs related to the function for all levels. Travel required (typically less than 25%) Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline 3 years’ experience as a Specialist, Coordinator, or Technician in the environmental field, within a manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education (advanced degree) and/or experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Strong knowledge of EPA, State and local environmental laws and regulations where MFI operates. Knowledge of permitting and reporting procedures required by regulatory agencies. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with vendors, customers, and employees at all levels; strong attention to detail is required. Bilingual Spanish/English a plus. Familiarity with Environmental database systems (especially Intelex) a plus. Safety and Health experience a plus.
