The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking a Senior Principal Highway Engineer for our Transportation Practice in our Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL office! Job Summary:

The Senior Principal Highway Engineer will be responsible for managing the roadway/highway analysis and design, plans production, specifications, reports, and estimates efforts on large scale conventional and design-build projects for FDOT and county clients. Additional responsibilities include client communication; managing subconsultants; mentoring roadway/highway staff; monitoring labor budgets and schedules for assigned projects; coordinating with discipline key task leaders and staff to ensure ongoing communications; performing quality control on deliverables; meeting project deliverable schedules and budgets for assigned projects; and leading/supporting marketing and business development initiatives. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university; Minimum 20 years of experience in roadway/highway engineering; Florida professional engineering (PE) registration; Experience managing conventional and design-build projects relating to intersections, arterials, interstates, and interchanges for FDOT and county clients; Working knowledge of MicroStation, Geopak, and/or OpenRoads Designer; Experience working with large multi-discipline teams; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management. Preferred Qualifications: Diverse background in the management and delivery of both conventional Design-Bid-Build and alternative delivery Adjust Score Design-Build and/or Phased Design-Build projects. Experience as a Project Manager and/or subject matter expert within an Owner’s Representative Contract for a major corridor. Engineer of Record experience in a variety of FDOT highway projects, including Limited Access Highways, Tolled Expressways, Urban Arterial Reconstruction and Widenings, and Milling & Resurfacing. Experience delivering FDOT District Wide and/or Continuing Services Contracts. Well-established FDOT contacts within respective geography. Identified and captured a variety of FDOT highway project solicitations. Experience in complex interchange and/or alternative intersection design. Capability to oversee and review work performed within Bentley OpenRoads Designer. Managed and led a high performing highway team.
