Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include:

• Obtain, update, review, and enter patient medical histories in the electronic health record
• Take patient X-rays and preliminary impressions
• Prepare patients for visits, arrange instruments, and prepare dental materials for treatment/procedure
• Perform four-handed dentistry
• Prepare and clean operatories
• Perform expanded functions as directed and required for patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients and other members of the healthcare team
• Demonstrate ability to provide care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect the developmental level of the population being served
• Other duties as assigned
• Take and document vital signs and medical history for patient records, take x-rays of patients’ mouths, and apply a topical anesthetic for dental procedures, if necessary
• Schedule appointments for patient care follow-up, answer any questions they may have about dental hygiene, and provide postoperative instructions with methods for infection control of the patients’ teeth and gums, after procedures
• Meet patients and explain dental care treatment plans so they feel comfortable during an appointment
• Assist dentists and dental hygienists during any procedures or examinations by handing off dental instruments, providing suction, and ensuring chair-side accessibility to the team
• Get treatment rooms ready for examination and procedures by equipping them with necessary sterilized equipment, dental instruments, anesthetics, dental supplies, and materials

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) in the State of MN or soon-to-be-licensed
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, organization, and excellent communication skills are preferred
• Active BLS/CPR certification is required
• Computer skills and experience with dental software and updating patient histories is needed
• State licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
• 3 years of dental assisting experience as a registered dental assistant or certified dental assistant
• Proficiency with computers, and experience updating patient histories, and with dental software is necessary

Compensation

$25.50 - $32 hourly
