The JCCSF Summer Camp is now hiring Sports Specialists for 2025!

Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades 1-8. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science, and more.

Camp is in session June 2 – August 22, 2025.

The Sports Specialist creates, organizes, and implements 1-week sessions of camp for up to 11 weeks. The Sports Specialist is responsible for Flag Football, Olympic Sports, Field Days, Basketball, and Volleyball camps. Sports Camp is offered for campers in grades 1-8. Campers will be introduced to the world of all things sports and hone their skills through a variety of experiences.

The Sports Specialist position requires strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement a well-rounded sports curriculum for youth ages 6 - 11.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the primary role model for a group of campers, grades K through 5.
  • Create a safe, supportive environment for campers.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise fun and stimulating activities.
  • Help lead excursions while ensuring campers' safety.
  • Set clear, consistent limits and resolve behavioral challenges with help from camp counselors.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 year as an educator.
  • Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate design and tool use skills for elementary school-aged campers.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Passion for sports, informal education, and youth programs.
  • Knowledge of summer camps preferred.
  • Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently.
  • Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise.

Working Conditions

Will be working directly with youth ages 5-13. Camps will take place on-site at the JCCSF in designated camp rooms and the gymnasium, as well as local sports fields and parks.

Physical Requirements

Move/set up sports equipment; stand/walk for approximately 6 hours a day; be actively engaged in the sports programming with the campers.

STATUS

Seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position.

HOURS

Up to 10 hours of prep work per week from 5/1/2025 – 5/31/2025; 37.5 hours per week from 6/2/2025 – 8/22/2025.

SCHEDULE

  • Summer Direct Service Hours: June 9, 2025 - August 15, 2025.
  • Work hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday.
