Details: This position is part of a team of ASL Tutors teaching individuals interested in virtually enhancing their knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL). The hours are determined based on availability and requests from the ASL Program Director.
Required Qualifications:
- Native or near-native ASL signer
- Knowledgeable about Deaf culture
- Have own equipment and working knowledge of technology including Zoom
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years experience in teaching ASL
- Familiar using the Signing Naturally, TRUE+WAY ASL, and/or ASL at Work curriculums
- Knowledgeable about working with learners from diverse educational, cultural and language backgrounds
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a session of ASL instruction virtually or in-person either at a DEAF, Inc. office or at a different location
- Prepare for instruction before each class
- Communicate with learners class updates
- Responsible for opening the space just before and closing after class times
- Track attendance of learners
- Report to supervisor with concerns or issues from within the classes
- Attend ASL Instructor briefings
- Meet with supervisor at least once per session
