Reports To: Operations Supervisor
Shift: 3rd Shift 10pm - 6am; Sunday thru Thursday (OT as necessary)

Job Title: Laser Operator Location: Janesville, WI. Employment Type: Full-time
Job Description: As a Laser Operator at United Alloy, you will play a vital role in our manufacturing process by safely performing laser cutting on Cinci Fiber and Mitsubishi machines to cut metal. Your responsibilities will include setting up, adjusting, and preparing the laser machine according to blueprints, loading raw materials, monitoring machine performance, and ensuring proper maintenance. You'll also be responsible for managing daily work expectations, inspecting materials, and following safety protocols.
- Set up, adjust, and prepare laser machine according to blueprints
- Load raw materials into the laser using a forklift
- Select and set up lenses based on material type and thickness
- Load programs and set machine parameters for optimal performance
- Use hand tools to remove excess scrap
- Lift finished materials and prep using overhead crane and forklift
- Manage daily work expectations and goals
- Interpret foreman’s reports and prioritize tasks accordingly
- Read material sheet tags and determine material types and gauges
- Inspect products according to Inspection Control Plan
- Follow all safety policies and standards
- Train other employees as needed
- Understand non-conforming process according to SOP-0003
- Maintain accurate system transactions
- Inspect and clean equipment, including preventative maintenance
- Inspect own work for quality standards
Qualifications:
- Exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes
- On-the-job training provided for new operators regarding safety procedures and equipment operation
- Ability to operate overhead cranes, tape measures, calipers, and basic hand and air tools
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints
- Accurate time recording using data collection systems
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance
NOTE: Given the nature/size of our product and customer requirements, we require a stringent hiring process to ensure the highest quality product. Qualified candidates must successfully complete: Basic Skills/Measurement Test | Blueprint Reading Test | Pre-Employment Physical & Drug Screen.
