RSU #3 is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Superintendent/Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to provide leadership, expertise, and assistance in all aspects of teaching and learning to promote improved student achievement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Facilitates, develops, and coordinates the district’s K-12 curriculum, including state and local assessments.

  2. Supports and facilitates professional development aligned to district goals.

  3. Oversees the instructional programming for Title I & Title II.

  4. Works collaboratively with building leaders to develop RTI intervention strategies to meet the needs of learners.

  5. In coordination with appropriate members of the District’s leadership team, supports and supervises the Gifted and Talented and Multilingual Coordinators and Instructional Strategists to ensure the programs are meeting the needs of learners.

  6. Works collaboratively with the Superintendent to oversee the Professional Evaluation and Professional Growth program for staff and administration.

  7. Supports the designated McKinney-Vento liaison.

  8. Serves as the lead Title IX Coordinator, and Affirmative Action officer and works with the established Title IX trained team.

  9. Develops and manages the budget for Curriculum & Assessment and assists with the budget development for Gifted and Talented, Multilingual, and Health Service programs.

  10. Oversees the writing, submission, and maintenance of federal grants, including ESEA.

  11. Oversees the completion and maintenance of all appropriate records and reports – local, state and federal.

  12. Works collaboratively with other members of the District’s leadership team, central office, and other administrative staff.

  13. Assumes an active role as a member of the District’s leadership team, providing input to district-wide decision making.

  14. Keeps abreast of educational changes and developments by attending appropriate meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.

  15. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Administration or related field.
State of Maine Certification: Asst. Superintendent Certificate (015) or ability to be certified.
Demonstrated leadership in education.
Demonstrated knowledge of Maine’s Learning Results and current national trends/best instructional practices.
Demonstrated experience with (the use of) technology to support teaching and learning.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month position, Salary and Benefits to be negotiated annually.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with RSU 3 policies and practices for the evaluation of administrative positions.
