Overview

AdventHealth for Children is looking for an experienced surgeon and leader in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Congenital Heart Surgery to join our program in Orlando. This surgeon will provide pediatric cardiac surgery at AdventHealth for Children in Orlando.

Requirements of the position:

  1. Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (or equivalent certification).
  2. Ideally, also certified with the Congenital Heart Surgery Certificate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (or equivalent).
  3. Minimum of 8 years post fellowship training.
  4. Documented success as an independent pediatric cardiac surgeon in all domains of clinical pediatric cardiac surgery including complex neonatal cardiac surgery and surgery for adults with congenital heart disease. Significant interest and capability in pre and post-operative care. Demonstrable skills in surgical judgment, management and decision-making.
  5. Strong leadership skills.
  6. “Team player” mentality. Participation in multidisciplinary daily rounds.
  7. Interest in multisite programmatic development, inter-institutional collaboration, and regional delivery of care under the “umbrella” of Johns Hopkins.
  8. Academic productivity commensurate with associate professor level at previous or current position.

Practice Description

This is an employed opportunity through AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG). Hospital Description

Our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, including a 22 bed PICU, 10 bed Cardiac ICU, a 102 bed NICU, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system. We started our comprehensive pediatric open heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes. We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program, and we increased Orlando area NICU beds to 150 total in 2017. Our unparalleled network consists of 27 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics. Our newest program has brought pediatric liver transplant services to Central Florida.

We are located in the outpatient center on the campus of AdventHealth for Children. Very convenient to many gorgeous homes, downtown urban living, shopping and great schools. A short drive to many of the area attractions including Universal Studios, Walt Disney World and area beaches.
