This a key leadership role at Shannon Galvanizing. In this role, he or she provides oversight, and expertise in plant operations and production. This position is directly responsible for Shannon Galvanizing meeting its business goals.
Location: Floresville, Texas
Schedule: Regular Business Hours: Mon - Fri 7:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and as otherwise directed
- Can you share your working knowledge (if applicable) of the galvanizing process?
- What are the proper steps for hot dipping?
- (Answers: Surface preparation, Degreasing, pickling, flux application, zinc application (hot dip galvanizing - HDG), drying, inspection, post treatment.)
- Tell me about your leadership experience? How many people did you have report to you?
- Explain your safety protocol - Follow all safety guidelines and influence others to think of safety as a first priority.
- Describe how you directed plant operations for production and quality and all personnel activities.
- Did you report on KPIs? How did you establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards while maintaining strict process controls.
- Did you develop operational strategies in concert with the GM and other key personnel that will help the company deliver quality product efficiently and to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Did you periodically review performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and determines areas that need cost reduction and program improvement.
- Are you hands on? Have you ever had to perform any of the job duties of the HDG process? Such as run, maneuver, navigate and drive heavy equipment or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, trucks, manlifts, overhead cranes in a safe manner
- When needed, would you assist in loading and unloading of material or moving material throughout the Shannon facility via forklift?
Personnel:
- Implements and monitors systems for control over operating expenditures and manpower.
- Recommends or implements measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality or efficiency.
- Recommends personnel action to GM including, but not limited to, promotions, hiring and firing.
- Oversees the proper and safe operation of all equipment including kettle, tanks, cranes, and forklifts.
- Communicates with all personnel to monitor and correct equipment malfunctions or to resolve production problems.
- Must be courteous and professional with all correspondence whether verbal or written
- Work with and/or supervise specialized contract labor as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of one year management experience in hot dip galvanizing, steel fabrication or other custom metal coating operations is required.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred
- Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English is required
- Demonstrates sensitivity to customer satisfaction, knows customer needs and expectations. Responds quickly to customer; strives to exceed customer expectations. Monitors levels of customer satisfaction.
- Previous forklift and overhead crane experience
- Experience with transportation, warehouse & manufacturing including PFEP (Plan for Every Part)
- Knowledge of federal and state safety and environmental regulations.
- Experience in plant maintenance, scheduling production and personnel management.
- Shows commitment to quality in products, services and processes; adheres to quality standards and expectations.
- Must use good judgment, follow instructions and have good problem-solving abilities.
- Works effectively with others in the organization to accomplish organizational goals and deliver services/products.
- Priorities reflect a strong work ethic, putting work and project tasks in front of personal agenda.
- Develops and maintains working relationships. Works effectively with others in the organization to accomplish organizational goals and deliver services/products.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Will be required to work weekends and unplanned overtime.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Good knowledge of hot dip galvanizing, steel fabrication or other custom metal coating operations is required.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control and costs, knowledge of hand tools and equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of specific and general safety policies and procedures as relates to the plant and the position is preferred.
- Demonstrates proficiency with general office technology: Microsoft Office suite and email, internet, etc.
