Role Objective & Mission: Align KPIs with operational goals and systematically resolve chronic issues, with foundational knowledge of forming, punching, and painting processes. Process Engineering ensures optimal production conditions, prioritizing safety, quality, and performance. Through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, process engineers identify process gaps, apply problem-solving methods, propose improvements, and drive technological innovations. Adherence to standards like OSHA, IATF, and MOS guides the achievement of these goals.
What does a day in life look like?
- Comply with Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems guidelines applicable to the area and the entire plant.
- Ensure that current processes are safe and ergonomic for team members.
- Comply with internal control guidelines (audit and update practices and procedures). Respond to internal and external audits.
- Review and take actions to optimize process capacity.
- Seek continuous process improvement through the application of engineering principles (process redesign, new technologies, etc.).
- Create, update, and execute manufacturing standards (JSA, PFMEA, Control Plan – with Quality, Work Instructions, etc.).
- Respond to shop floor needs in process abnormalities.
- Monitor process performance, identify problems, analyze causes, and solve operational issues (safety, quality, productivity, waste, and savings) using problem-solving methodology.
- Coordinate meetings with specialty teams to solve problems and carry out improvement projects and engineering changes.
- Research new technologies and develop applications to improve overall performance.
- Collaborate, lead, or support in the design/implementation of new products, engineering changes, or processes.
Role Current Challenges:
- Understand and keep current standard work updated.
- Propose and implement improvements to enhance capacity and efficiency.
- Support key projects.
- Lead the Section Room (Specialty Level).
- Lead process capacity analysis and mitigate results.
- Mentor problem-solving analysis.
Experience & Technical Skills:
- Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Roll-forming process for High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) Steel, Heat treatment processes for HSLA Steel, Plasma Cut processes, Automotive, Industrial Processes, Metallurgy.
- Knowledge of customized products, steel parts, and quality in commercial vehicle manufacturing processes.
- Certified Mechanical Engineer or Industrial Engineer desirable.
- TPS, LEAN Certification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the automotive industry, specifically in the manufacturing process of HSLA Steel for frame rails of commercial vehicles.
- Lean manufacturing knowledge.
- Manufacturing Processes.
- Project management skills.
- 2D software drawing (Drawing, Reading).
- Geometric and Dimensional Tolerancing (desired).
- Tools for Problem-solving.
- Core Tools (control plan, FMEA).
- Desired knowledge in paint processes.
