Senior Director of Engineering at Eastern Acoustic Works

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

Eastern Acoustics Works (EAW) designs and manufactures premium professional loudspeaker systems for users and venues all around the world. The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering and is an important member of EAW’s new product integration (NPI) team. This person is responsible for creating CAD drawings for manufacturing, administering engineering change orders and managing manufacturing change requests. This role will interact directly with the EAW operations teams and manufacturing locations around the globe.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide engineering support to captive manufacturing locations in North America and Europe, and contract manufacturing partners in Asia.
  • Develop 2D part drawings for custom parts to communicate tolerance and manufacturing requirements to sub-component and loudspeaker assembly suppliers.
  • Create detailed assembly drawings for loudspeaker systems that outline product assembly requirements.
  • Document product Bill of Materials (BOMs) and implement engineering change orders in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.
  • Manage manufacturing change requests from manufacturing partners.
  • Review alternative part requests to confirm they meet design requirements.
  • Collaborate with product design team to ensure all design elements meet or exceed manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct part inspections for mechanical components and write inspection reports to document the results.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Collaboratively develop project documentation used for task tracking, project status logs, progress reporting, artwork, and other supporting documentation.
  • Assist in administration of product configuration and change process for engineering and manufacturing change orders in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
  • Communicate product and change order data to external manufacturing partners in Europe, Asia and Mexico.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB SCOPE

This position is Monday through Friday from the EAW Headquarters in Franklin, MA. The role will primarily be interfacing with the EAW development and manufacturing teams in Franklin and throughout the world.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

On occasion, the Manufacturing Engineer will need to provide directions to technical engineering staff regarding tasks assigned to the technicians that are directly related to the Engineer’s projects.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS

The Manufacturing Engineer will interact with many other areas of the organization across different geographies and cultures. The ability to adapt to different work environments, philosophies and personalities while achieving results is critical. Excellent verbal and written skills are essential; attention to detail is key.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) with 0-5 years’ experience.

· SolidWorks (or equivalent) 2D and 3D CAD modeling experience is required.

· Strong knowledge of industry standards for mechanical drafting and documentation.

· Experience with professional audio or loudspeaker products is highly desirable.

· PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) administration experience is a plus.

· Frequent sitting, standing, and lifting.

· Occasional travel to support domestic and international manufacturing.
