POSITION: Human Resources Generalist
STATUS: Full-Time/Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources

POSITION CONCEPT:
To support the Mission, Vision, and Values of REH, Inc. by assisting in the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering payroll practices, benefits, and enforcing company policies and practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. May oversee the assignments and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
  2. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with company training including safety training and anti-harassment training.
  3. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified part-time job applicants for open positions; collaborates with department director to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  4. Creates offer letters and assists in administering contingent employment offers by conducting and acquiring background checks, drug tests, and employee eligibility verifications.
  5. Conducts new hire benefit orientations; conducts new hire orientations when needed.
  6. Relays to and assists director with sensitive employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  7. Oversees distribution and tracking of annual performance evaluations.
  8. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations when required.
  9. Maintains payroll portal with current information.
  10. Assists with resolving employee payroll queries.
  11. Collaborates with finance to ensure accurate payroll processing and payout.
  12. Completes and submits employment verifications.
  13. Participates in open enrollment process; ensures all submissions are timely and recorded correctly in payroll.
  14. Maintains insurance and benefit records including group health, dental, vision, life, and disability enrollments and changes.
  15. Assists with administration of all retirement plans.
  16. Prepares and reviews all carrier billings for accuracy and payment.
  17. Ensures all work-related accidents are reported in a timely manner and provides follow-up when needed.
  18. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as required.
  19. Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  20. Proofreads and types documents and correspondence produced by the department.
  21. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  22. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  23. Professionally represents Ruth Eckerd Hall at all times.
  24. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate in Arts (AA) degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • At least two years of human resource experience required.
  • At least two years of company benefit experience required.
  • At least two years of company payroll experience required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to learn quickly the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copier, fax machine, telephone, computer, and printers.
  • Ability to drive.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
