Description

Seeking a Physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation to provide care for those in a Brain Injury Medicine setting.
  1. As an expert in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, prescribes the full spectrum of Physical Therapy, Occupational therapy, Speech, Neuropsychology evaluations, and social work services. Orders Radiology, laboratory tests, makes diagnoses and prescribes/directs appropriate Rehabilitation treatment to include drugs, and dietary care as indicated. Performs and interprets full range of Electrophysiology (i.e. Electromyography (EMG), Nerve conduction velocity (NCV), Repetitive Stimulation Studies (RSS)). Performs prosthetics, orthotics, rehabilitation equipment evaluations and prescriptions.
  2. Performs limited clinical research. Teaches, and provides consultation to a health care team comprised of other physicians, medical professionals, and ancillary staff.

Duty Hours: 0700 hrs. To 1630 hrs. (MON - FRI) One (1) hour lunch break.

Key Responsibilities

Subject matter expert on the development of brain injury medicine treatment plans. Brain Injury Medicine (BIM) includes disorders of brain function due to injury. These disorders if brain function due to injury. These disorders encompass a range of medical, physical, cognitive, sensory, and behavioral disorders that result in psychosocial, educational, and vocational consequences.
• A specialist in BIM should also have special expertise in the treatment and management of other central nervous system insults (e.g. encephalopathies, anoxia) with similar neurocognitive presentations.
• As an expert in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, prescribes the full spectrum of Physical Therapy, Occupational therapy, Speech, Neuropsychology evaluations, and social work services.
• Orders Radiology, laboratory tests, makes diagnoses and prescribes/directs appropriate Rehabilitation treatment to include drugs, and dietary care as indicated. Performs and interprets full range of Electrophysiology (i.e. Electromyography (EMG), Nerve conduction velocity (NCV), Repetitive Stimulation Studies (RSS)).

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • MD or DO License from any US jurisdiction
  • Board Certification: AP/CP Board Certified Physiatrist to provide anatomic and clinical pathology services.
  • Experience/Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.
