We are seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer with deep expertise in AWS Cloud Security, Architecture, and Engineering to lead security design, cloud security implementations, and compliance strategy for customer environments. This role is unique in that it combines hands-on AWS security architecture with the ability to deliver cloud solutions and migrations while ensuring strong security governance.

The ideal candidate will be able to differentiate between compliance and true security—balancing regulatory requirements while advising customers on securing AWS environments beyond compliance checklists. They will also be a contributing member of cloud solution delivery teams, ensuring that security does not become an afterthought, but an integral part of cloud migration, implementation, and automation efforts.

This individual must hold AWS Certified Security – Specialty and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certifications and demonstrate strong expertise in AWS cloud architecture, security automation, and compliance frameworks.

Required Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Security – Specialty (MUST)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (MUST)
  • 7+ years in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years focused on AWS cloud security and architecture
  • Expertise in AWS security architecture, IAM, networking security, encryption, and compliance
  • Experience with AWS multi-account security management, including AWS Organizations, SCPs, and Control Tower
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
  • Strong automation & scripting skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Strong understanding of cloud threat detection, incident response, and SIEM/SOAR integration Deep compliance expertise (NIST 800-53, CMMC, FedRAMP, ISO 27001, etc.) while recognizing that compliance ? security

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CCSK, TOGAF, or SABSA certifications.
  • Experience securing hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, on-prem).
  • Familiarity with container security (EKS, ECS, Fargate), serverless security (Lambda), and API security.
  • Prior experience in Professional Services or Consulting, supporting customers in their cloud security journeys.

Some of the exciting work you will encounter:

  • Cloud Security Architecture & Engineering
    • Design, build, and secure AWS cloud environments, ensuring adherence to security best practices and industry frameworks (NIST 800-53, CIS, ISO 27001, CMMC, FedRAMP).
    • Actively contribute to cloud migration and implementation projects, ensuring security is embedded into the design and delivery of AWS solutions.
    • Lead security automation initiatives using AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK), and CI/CD security controls.
    • Architect and implement cloud-native security controls, including AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Macie, Inspector, WAF, Shield, IAM, KMS, AWS Config, and AWS Organizations.
    • Implement Zero Trust principles across AWS environments, ensuring secure identity, network, and application architectures.
  • AWS Cloud Solutions & Migration Support
    • Act as a technical leader in AWS migration projects, contributing to networking, storage, IAM, security, and workload optimizations.
    • Support application modernization efforts, including serverless security (Lambda, Fargate), container security (EKS, ECS), and API security.
    • Ensure cost-effective, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions while embedding security at every stage of the cloud lifecycle.
  • Security, Compliance & Governance
    • Apply compliance frameworks effectively while ensuring that security is not compromised by regulatory checklists.
    • Differentiate between security and compliance, advising customers on where compliance requirements fall short and how to implement stronger security measures.
    • Perform security risk assessments, cloud security audits, and gap analysis for customer environments.
    • Develop and implement security governance models that balance compliance needs with real-world security effectiveness.
  • Threat Detection, Incident Response & Automation
    • Lead security operations initiatives, integrating AWS-native and third-party security tools into SIEM (Security Hub, Splunk, ELK) and SOAR workflows.
    • Develop security response automation using AWS Lambda, EventBridge, and custom integrations.
    • Assist customers in incident response, forensics, and threat modeling to proactively mitigate cloud security risks.
  • Leadership, Collaboration & Mentorship
    • Act as a security SME (subject matter expert) for cloud solution teams, bridging the gap between security, cloud engineering, and DevOps.
    • Provide strategic security advisory services, working closely with customers to design long-term security strategies.
    • Mentor junior security engineers and cloud architects, sharing expertise on security, compliance, and cloud best practices.
    • Engage directly with executive leadership and technical teams to align cloud security initiatives with business objectives.
