Job Summary

Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in production.

What you'll do

1. Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
2. Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
3. Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
4. Implement lean manufacturing techniques to eliminate manufacturing wastes.
5. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
6. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
7. Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
8. Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
9. Monitor and adjust the manufacturing labor standard in QAD to reduce labor variance.
10. Create and update the process routings in QAD.
11. Create precise work instructions for product assembly in production as directed.
12. Take initiative and be proactive in problem-solving.
13. Involved in the manufacturing process daily, including setup of production runs and work cells, SMT, reflow ovens, depanelization machine, burn-in room, test cells, etc.
14. Manage related building and facility maintenance with contractors.
15. Responsible for maintenance and service of all manufacturing equipment.
16. Keep maintenance records of all equipment up to date. Write new procedures along with the QA manager.
17. Work well in teams formed to resolve quality issues, make continuous improvements, and improve procedures & work instructions in coordination with the QA department.
18. Support the head of manufacturing and supervisors for their technical engineering needs with plant and equipment.

What would be useful

It would be useful and advantageous for the candidate to have experience in or knowledge of:

1. Manufacturing software, QAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio). AutoCAD is a plus.
2. Equivalent electrical or mechanical engineering experience. PCB and MRT knowledge. TL9000 and safety awareness.

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will have experience in or knowledge of:

1. Electronic manufacturing, especially surface mount and through-hole processes. Capability to identify and troubleshoot soldering defects and resolve process issues.
2. PCBA manufacturing and box build.
3. Wave solder process and ability to identify defects and resolve process issues and minimize defects.
4. SMT machines (Stencil printer, Pick & Place, Reflow oven, AOI, etc.).
5. Ability to generate reflow oven profiles for mixed assembly products using thermal profiling software (M.O.L.E.).
6. Electro-mechanical assembly process and ability to generate precise manufacturing work instructions for production operators.
7. IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 certified.
8. ERP system, preferably QAD.
9. ESD compliance and standard (ANSI/ESD S20.20).
10. ISO 9001 and TL 9000.
11. Ability to work closely with others and train operators for various assemblies.
12. Ability to maintain and schedule a timely equipment maintenance program.
13. Must be hands-on (able to perform minor repairs on SMT lines and other manufacturing equipment and machines).

Must Have

The successful candidate must have:

1. Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering or related field.
2. 4+ years of related experience and/or training is required.
