AN INVITATION TO APPLY FOR THE POSITION OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS UXBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MASSACHUSETTS

The Uxbridge School Committee invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The district is seeking a collaborative leader with the skills, knowledge, and passion to work together with the School Committee and the community to guide the district to continual improvement and to carry out the mission of the Uxbridge Public Schools:

Uxbridge Public Schools, in partnership with parents, guardians and the community, are dedicated to creating environments of continuous growth and learning that ensures all students become empowered and progressive learners, innovative problem-solvers, and flexible thinkers. The district strives to provide rigorous educational programs that meet the diverse needs of its students in a safe, supportive environment and, in partnership with the community, prepare students to become competent, innovative, and responsible citizens.

Uxbridge Public Schools has been recognized nationally for its Innovation Pathways Program at the high school and was bestowed Distinguished Status for Project Lead the Way at the Early Learning Center and the high school. These programs give students access to applied and experiential learning opportunities in different career areas, increasing engagement and achievement.

Along with strong academic programs, the district provides a wide variety of co-curricular programs for its students, including established Extended Day programs in Grades K-6; strong music, chorus and athletic programs in Grades 4-7; and robust club and athletic offerings in Grades 8-12. Uxbridge High School is the home of multiple state championship teams, including its varsity football team, which won back-to-back championships in 2023 and 2024, and its varsity field hockey team, which won championships in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The district, which serves approximately 1,600 students in Pre-K to Grade 12, comprises three schools:

Taft Early Learning Center: Grades Prek-3, enrollment of 565 students Whitin Intermediate School: Grades 4-7, enrollment of 474 students Uxbridge High School: Grades 8-12, enrollment of 634 students

The Town of Uxbridge, with a population of approximately 14,00 residents, is located in southern Worcester County, halfway between Worcester, MA and Providence, RI. Uxbridge, which is preparing to celebrate its 300th anniversary, is situated at the center of the Blackstone Valley Heritage Corridor, the home of America's earliest industrialization for textiles, power looms for woolens, cashmere woolens, and manufacturing of clothing and military uniforms. Uxbridge is governed by a five-member elected board with a town meeting style of government. The school system is governed by a seven-member elected school committee.

The successful candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools must exhibit a record of strong leadership skills in an administrative role. They must have proven performance of past leadership, demonstrating a strong ability to collaborate with involved stakeholders, including the community and the School Committee, to establish and execute on a shared vision for the district. The candidate should have a record of building and directing successful teams and cultivating relationships of all involved with empathy and understanding, while constantly seeking to promote academic excellence and social emotional well-being.

A master's degree is required; a Ph.D. or Ed.D. is preferred. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensing as Superintendent of Schools in Massachusetts. The Uxbridge School Committee will offer a contract with a regionally competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a generous benefits package.
