Core Physicians is seeking a Chief Hospitalist to lead our well-established hospitalist program at Exeter Hospital.

The Chief Hospitalist directs hospitalist program initiatives, including overall quality of clinical care, quality reporting, program operations, staffing and recruiting, as well as championing new priority initiatives for the program and hospital.

The Chief Hospitalist is expected to work closely with the hospitalist program administrator and Exeter Hospital leadership, including the Chief Medical and Chief Nursing Officers. The Chief Hospitalist is also expected to collaborate closely with and champion Quality/Patient Safety and Utilization Management initiatives. The role will focus on safe and effective patient care, and foster collaboration between the hospitalists and other hospital based-departments, specialists, PCPs, and clinical support professionals.

The hospitalist program at Exeter Hospital is operated through Core Physicians, the affiliated multi-specialty physician and provider group. The Chief Hospitalist position reports to the Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Medical Officer of Core Physicians.

Requirements: • MD/DO; Unrestricted medical license to practice within NH; current DEA certificate without restriction.

Responsibilities: Set vision for exceptional, high quality patient care and maintaining a stable, successful hospitalist team. Oversee the Hospitalist Program quality and patient safety measures, as well as throughput and utilization measures, through department and committee collaboration with Quality and Patient Safety, Utilization Management, as other stakeholders as appropriate Maintain awareness of, and hospital program ability to respond to and meet regulatory requirements. Maintain financial sustainability of hospitalist program. Maintain familiarity with best practices for hospitalist care and national norms for hospitalist program management. Serve on the Medical Executive Committee and act as a liaison between the hospital program and other specialties and departments. Participate in interdisciplinary, interdepartmental and performance improvement activities within the hospital. Serve on key hospital and Core Physician committees, as well as encouraging hospitalist participation in key organizational committees. Serve as the direct supervisor for all hospitalists, with responsibilities to include ensuring adherence to evidence-based clinical care, meeting quality metrics, providing guidance and mentoring, and addressing performance or behavioral concerns. Along with hospitalist program administrator, conduct annual performance reviews for hospitalists. With support from Compliance and Coding, participate in audits and maintain compliance with sound coding and fiscal practices. Provide input into the annual operating and capital budgeting process for the hospital as requested. Incorporate hospital and system priorities into the long term planning and scope of work undertaken by the Hospitalist program, as well as support new initiatives. Champion the hospital's mission and vision.
