Junipero Serra High School is a Catholic college preparatory for boys. Position: Dean of Studies To provide leadership in the development, evaluation, and administration of the academic program, ensuring that Serra students receive an exceptional college preparatory education aligned with the school’s mission.
Overview: The Dean of Studies reports directly to the Assistant Principal of Academics and plays a key role in supporting the academic program. This is a full-time, twelve-month position.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s Degree (preferred) Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (highly preferred)
Credentials:
California Teacher’s and/or Administrative Credential
Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience in secondary teaching and/or administration
Commitment:
Demonstrated adherence to and support of the Catholic mission of the school
Other:
Additional or alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate
Responsibilities:
Manage the Student Information Systems (SIS), including grading, scheduling, report generation, and distribution. Oversee daily academic operations, including class schedules, field trips, honor code violations, and Advanced Placement (AP) test administration. Coordinate educational technology initiatives, with a focus on professional development and classroom technology integration. Organize teacher substitutions to ensure continuity of instruction. Address academic concerns involving students, teachers, and parents. Assist in the development, evaluation, and administration of instructional programs, including:
Academic programming and events Faculty professional development and in-service programs Academic Council Master schedule creation Faculty recruitment and interview processes
Support the supervision and evaluation of faculty members. Contribute to the ongoing Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation process. Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal.
