What can you expect? As the Geologist II, you will work in the San Francisco Bay Area with travel required on occasion for project needs. You will utilize your knowledge to participate in collecting, synthesizing and documenting data from investigated areas and assisting in the preparation of project documentation, in addition to providing field support as needed including field site supervision. Personal initiative and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline driven so you must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment. How will you do it? Conduct and oversee site inspections, assessments, investigations, and cleanups in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by project management staff. Work with environmental technicians and other technical staff in data collection, site inspection/investigation, and evaluation of data collected in support of environmental project objectives. Prepare technical evaluations of investigated sites. Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation. Review and document the processes necessary to obtain, develop and/or update environmental permits, plans, reports, licenses, and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental compliance and restoration project objectives. Review and provide documentation on environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals meet all appropriate requirements. Prepare charts or graphs from data samples, providing summary information on the environmental relevance of the data. Determine data collection methods to be employed in site surveys and investigations. Actively participate in creating a positive team environment. Support project planning and RFP responses. Solving challenges for Clients. Manage company resources to ensure proper deliverables. Support junior staff. Actively participate in a proactive safety culture. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as directed. Supervisory Functions: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge of the practical application of environmental engineering science and technology. Knowledge and understanding of RCRA, CERCLA, NPDES, CWA, OPPA, CAA, and other applicable laws, legal codes, government regulations. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to use analytical skills alongside scientific rules and methods to solve problems. Basic computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite. Effective oral and technical written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of staff. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to act as an effective team member. Ability to effectively manage tasks and be self-directed in meeting deliverables. Ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships. Ability to develop and expand knowledge. Ability to develop business acumen. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in geology, physical or environmental science, or environmental engineering required. Five to ten years of experience (or transferable experience) working on environmental projects required. Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Solution’s Driving Policy. Ability to pass drug, driving and background screening. Preferred Qualifications: Geologist- or Engineering-in-Training preferred. A broad understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations preferred. Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response training preferred. Experience in federal government projects preferred. Experience with Health and Safety functions preferred. How do you apply?
