This position will provide spiritual, academic, and operational leadership. This individual oversees the school’s daily operations, ensures alignment with its mission, fosters academic excellence within the Montessori framework, and models Christ-centered leadership. CMSAA’s mission is to inspire a lifelong love of learning through an authentic Montessori education rooted in Christian values. Academic Leadership
Oversee curriculum development, ensuring alignment with Montessori principles and Christian values. Support faculty in the implementation of Montessori methodologies and professional growth. Monitor student progress and implement strategies for academic and spiritual growth. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and state educational requirements. Operational Management
In partnership with the Program Director, oversee hiring, retention, supervision, and regular evaluation of teaching and non-teaching staff. In partnership with the Program Director, observe in classrooms and give timely and appropriate feedback to Lead Teachers and classroom assistants. Ensure compliance with all state regulations including MiLeap and Michigan Department of Education. Oversee and actively participate in the admissions and enrollment process with the Admissions Director, ensuring all processes and procedures are followed. Develop and manage the school’s annual budget and finances in coordination with the Board of Trustees and office support. Maintain a safe, well-functioning campus environment conducive to learning. Establish and oversee policies and procedures for effective school operations. Manage daily operations, including facilities, technology, and administrative functions. Board Relations and Governance
Work closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement school policies and initiatives. Provide regular updates on school performance, strategic priorities, and financial health. Partner with the Board on long-term planning and governance matters. Community Engagement
Foster a strong sense of community and partnership among families, faculty, and students. Build and maintain relationships with students, families, staff, and the broader community. Regularly handle timely, transparent, trustworthy, professional, consistent communications with families, staff, the community, and the Board of Directors. Promote enrollment growth through outreach and effective marketing strategies. Represent the school at community events and educational conferences. Strategic Leadership
Serve as the primary leader and advocate for the school’s mission and vision. Lead the school community with a focus on academic excellence, integrity, and inclusion. Lead strategic planning initiatives to ensure the school’s sustainability and growth. Inspire and mentor faculty, staff, and students to achieve personal and institutional goals. Uphold and enhance the school’s Montessori and Christian identity. Skills & Qualifications
Educational and Professional Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Montessori Education, or related field preferred. Montessori certification (AMI/AMS or equivalent) is highly desirable. Michigan Teaching Certificate is highly desirable. Proven leadership experience, preferably in a Montessori or Christian school setting fostering a positive culture. Minimum of 5–10 years of leadership experience in education or a related field. Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA regulations. Demonstrated ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance as outlined by the State Board of Education. Qualify as a Licensee Designee and/or Program Director as outlined by MiLeap. Skills and Attributes Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and methodology. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to inspire, lead, and manage a team effectively. Experience with financial management and resource development. Strategic thinker with a proven ability to implement innovative solutions. Ability to multitask in a highly visible, fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion. Excellent computer skills including Google Suite and Microsoft Office. This is a full-time, year-round position (including summer months) requiring regular attendance at school functions and events. May require occasional work outside of normal school hours.
