Other Conditions: Appointment to begin approximately August 2025, pending position clearance and availability of funding.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teach undergraduate courses within the major and GE
  2. Offer undergraduate courses in American Politics (survey and area of specialization)
  3. Contribute to political science program courses in Research Methods, Introductory Political Science, and/or Seminar in Political Science
  4. Contribute to International Politics Certificate
  5. Maintain an active agenda of scholarly research and publication
  6. Participate in service work, and fulfill other duties assigned by the department chair
  7. Serve on appropriate department, college, and university committees, and contribute to department activities
  8. Advising of students

Minimum Qualifications

  1. A Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Political Science, Politics, or Government with specialization in American Politics and comparative governing institutions and political processes
  2. Documented excellence of college teaching courses in American Politics and comparative governing institutions and political processes
  3. Ability to teach courses in Research Methods
  4. At least one peer-reviewed publication in the field of American Politics and/or comparative governing institutions and political processes.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated quality research productivity in the field of American Politics and comparative governing institutions and political processes
  2. Experience in teaching Introductory American Politics
  3. Experience in teaching Introductory Political Science
  4. Experience in teaching courses in Research Methods
  5. Experience in advising or counseling in a multicultural setting
  6. Experience with high impact practices such as service learning, learning communities, research with faculty, internships, study abroad, and culminating senior experiences
