The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) is seeking an experienced and skilled Manager of Trade and Economic Policy who will be responsible for informing, overseeing and implementing trade policies and economic strategies that support U.S. dairy’s growth and member company priorities. This role requires a deep understanding of international trade laws, economic trends, and the U.S. dairy supply chain. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, a strong economics background, and a passion for working in a collaborative environment. This role reports to IDFA’s Senior Vice President of Trade and Workforce Policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Inform, develop and implement trade positions that align with IDFA members’ strategic objectives and meet the expectations of IDFA’s Senior Vice President of Trade and Workforce Policy;
Analyze economic data and trends to provide trade-focused analyses, including market growth projections, tariff analyses, and impacts of those or other policy measures on U.S. dairy both domestically and in foreign markets;
Monitor and evaluate the impact of trade policies on the sector’s operations and overall economic performance;
Manage committees and website information and develop publications, graphics, and other advocacy materials related to trade and economic policy;
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for favorable trade policies and regulations;
Represent the association and IDFA members’ business interests in conferences and industry events, monitor Congressional hearings and meetings among Administration officials;
Prepare detailed analyses, regulatory comments, and presentations on trade and economic policy issues;
Stay updated on changes in trade laws, regulations, and economic conditions that may affect the sector; and
Collaborate with colleagues on the Legislative, Regulatory, Communications, and Membership and Programming teams to share relevant information and gain alignment on strategy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field required, but a Master’s degree is preferred;
Minimum of 5 years of experience in trade policy, economic analysis, or a related field;
Strong understanding of the U.S. political process and policy development within Congress, federal agencies and the White House;
Strong understanding of international trade policy, economics, and dairy policy;
Self-starting initiative and strategic thinking;
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; and
Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders in fast-paced environment.
