PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Software Support Specialist II will assist the technical support staff as a liaison between end users, internal developers, database administrators, and third-party vendors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Develops and prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. standards and procedures, training curricula, audit procedures, etc.) for the purpose of documenting procedures and required actions, providing written support and/or conveying information to others, both within and outside the department. Create, modify, maintain, and document user reports. Perform regular reviews of various logs to determine potential data integrity issues, trends and ensure data accuracy within our various software applications. Ensure security and confidentiality of data practices are followed. Aid in planning, beta testing and implementation of new software applications, upgrades and new software solution implementations. Interact with various teams within operational departments to support student and employee records management and business operations. Cross trains with database administrators and programmer/analysts and serves as primary backup for this position(s) which includes providing full support to all district personnel using ClassLink as it relates to district operations (setup, configuration, access, maintenance, improvements, etc.). Provides administrative support in areas of compiling and analyzing data; preparing statistical reports; compiling, maintaining, and archiving confidential records in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements. Supports state/federal reporting requirements. Supports and integrates the district's ClassLink 3rd party applications and other district software systems including but not limited to the Student Information and Finance Systems. Serves as an expert in relational database applications including Student Information Systems, Finance Systems, Microsoft SQL, and other district database applications including the research, analysis, requirements, design, testing, and implementation of new features and modules. Writes programming scripts to enhance functionality and performance of information management and student information/finance applications as necessary. Supports and leads the training of school and district staff in PowerSchool, Learning Management, and Finance Systems. Develops, defines, implements, and enforces best practices regarding data privacy. QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Minimum of 2 years practical experience in a similar position is desired. Two years minimum experience managing a student information system and financial applications and two years systems administration/management experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Intermediate to advanced skills, minimum two years of experience, with Microsoft Office, Google Suite and other data manipulation tools. Must be comfortable with training adults in data entry processes, technology tools and concepts. Knowledge of back-end development and programming preferred. Strong understanding of standard relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Experience in developing documentation and procedures. Ability to quickly understand complex systems from a technical, organizational and logical perspective, how they interact with the operation of the school district; and the impact and connection these systems have to different types of users (administration, support staff, teachers) and to departments in the school (Administrative Services, Business Office, Attendance Office, Registrar, etc.) Ability to complete multiple, complex projects; multi-task; meet frequent deadlines.
