Job Description:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be the primary person responsible for investigating problems with different types of heavy civil equipment, and motor vehicles and making repairs accordingly. The equipment technician's duties include communicating with the equipment manager, carrying out routine maintenance procedures on heavy civil equipment/motor vehicles, and replacing parts to promote their functionality.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assess vehicles and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues
  • Provide routine inspections of equipment and inform stakeholders of any issues
  • Prepare quotes and work estimates as requested
  • Keep an accurate log of all work performed
  • Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times
  • Adhere to company work safety policies

 

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of diesel engines and able to perform diagnostics and repairs
  • Understanding hydraulic systems and able to perform diagnostics and repairs
  • Understanding electrical systems and able to perform diagnostics and repairs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A flexible schedule is a plus

 

Requirements:

  • Has attended Diesel School (Preferred)
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and lift heavy materials for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of handheld tools and power tools
  • A valid driver license and reliable transportation
  • Experience with RT and Crawler Cranes
  • Heavy Equipment Experience is needed
