NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
This position provides secretarial services for the Athletics Department in a timely and efficient manner, and support district educational services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The 10-month secretary shall:
  1. Have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Have experience in a school district.
  3. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character.
  4. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand and/or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for work processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The 10-month secretary shall:
  1. Coordinate and set meetings and appointments.
  2. Attend meetings and take necessary notes and minutes.
  3. Take and transcribe notes and prepare correspondence and reports.
  4. Prepare items to be presented to the board of education if deemed necessary.
  5. Maintain confidential correspondence and report files.
  6. Distribute information to district employees and the general public.
  7. Communicate directly with employees and members of the general public
  8. Use computer and/or all electronic equipment and school software programs to fulfill job functions, including student data.
  9. Assists in all correspondence and reports emanating from the building central office.
  10. Assists, logs in and directs visitors to the schools. Schedules appointments including meetings and job interviews in a manner that protects confidentiality of visitors and applicants.
  11. Assists in the assignment and work of substitute teachers and daily teacher coverage.
  12. Acts as a liaison between the building central office in screening and routing inquiries and requests.
  13. Athletic Director Secretary will maintain conflict calendar for the district and make it available to all administration.
  14. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel and outside agencies associated with the school.
  15. Serve as a role model for staff in demonstrating a positive attitude, appropriate attire and grooming and an effective work ethic.
  16. Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
  17. Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.
  18. Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the building principal, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
The 10-month secretary shall be employed under the following terms:
  1. Work year of ten months.
  2. Salary, benefits, leave time and conditions as negotiated by EPEA contract.
  3. Conditions established by laws and codes of the State, and policies, rules, and regulations established by the Board of Education (N.J.S.A. 18A:27-4 et. seq.).
