Occasional weekend shifts as needed Duration: This will be 3 months with possibility for extension. Job Summary:

The Hospital Assistant III provides essential support to technologists and the Radiology department. As a key member of the imaging team, responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, assisting with equipment setup and cleaning, transporting patients and specimens, and maintaining department safety standards. The role requires flexibility to work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties Identify patients using two patient identifiers and prepare them for imaging procedures. Assist technologists with patient positioning, exam preparation, and equipment setup. Ensure proper transport of patients, including infection control measures. Transport specimens to the lab as needed. Maintain patient safety and assist with safe patient handling. Clean and organize patient care areas following infection control standards. Apply surgical markers for pre-surgical scans using aseptic techniques. Handle and transport sterilized instruments. Administrative Duties

Perform duties of a Hospital Assistant II. Manage supply inventory and restocking. Verify and complete patient screening forms. Use APEX system to track patient status and workflow. Follow protocols for medication and hazardous material handling. Communication Duties

Provide clear and professional communication with patients, staff, and technologists. Utilize language assistance services when necessary. Communicate any workflow, patient, or equipment issues effectively. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in reading and writing in English. Flexibility to work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed. Compliance with UCSF Policies and Procedures. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of three years' experience in a hospital acute care setting or imaging center. License/Certification Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR Certification.
