Shifts: Day
The Patient Care Technician, CNA performs routine and specialized tasks in providing direct patient care under the functional direction of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities: Assist the patient with changing/dressing. Transports the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair (this is a large part of the job) Identifies abnormal findings that could adversely affect surgical and patient outcomes, including abnormal vital signs, Accucheck results, lab, EKG, and CXR results Report all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff. Escorts patients to holding rooms. Assists with patient changing, and removal of belongings such as jewelry, dentures, contact lenses, etc. Verifies patient information. Orients patients and families to the environment Obtains vital signs. Qualifications:
Current Maryland CNA certification CPR certification - AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted. Six months of previous experience as a PCT, patient aide, or geriatric nursing assistant, or currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed basic technician training in nursing. Benefits:
